Complete nurse aide training program
Student must complete the state-approved Nurse Aide I training program.
If you did not complete a North Carolina state-approved training but wish to test, you may be eligible for a “training waiver.” Please review the Candidate Handbook or visit the North Carolina website.

Training provider or the state confirms your eligibility
Your training provider must send your course completion information to Credentia before you can create an online account and register for testing. Training providers electronically upload your course completion details to Credentia. Ask your training provider when they will submit and verify your course was completed.
If you are registering under a different eligibility route other than a candidate that has just completed a training program, the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services will electronically upload your information to Credentia.
IMPORTANT: Please do not attempt to create an online account before you receive an Activation email from Credentia (see step 4 that follows). This will only delay your registration.
Receive Activation email to create your account and register
Upon receipt of your training program information or your information from the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, Credentia will immediately send you an Activation email to create an online account. Please follow the instructions in the Activation email. If you do not receive an email and your training provider has confirmed sending your information to Credentia, please check your spam or bulk email folder.
The link provided in the activation email can only be clicked once. You must activate your account before the expiration date listed in the email.
If your notification is not in your junk or spam folder or you have not accessed your account within the allotted time period, please follow the “Account Recovery” process in the Step-by-step Candidate Guide.
