Announcement (Effective August 23rd, 2023)

Nurse Aide Renewal Notice:  

Nurse Aide Renewals require a Criminal Background check from Fieldprint, a completed attestation form, which can be found here and proof of completion of twelve (12) hours per year, twenty-four (24) in total, of continuing education or in-service training in the area of health or nursing needs, of an assigned client population during the certification period; provided that at least ten percent (10%) of the in-service or continuing education shall be in a public health subject as determined and published every five (5) years or as deemed appropriate by the Director; have completed two (2) hours  of continuing education in cultural competency or specialized clinical training on clients who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender or queer, and any additional Board mandated topics. Documents must include your first and last name.

COVID-19 Policy Reminder!

 Per the National Council of State Board of Nursing, we are still implementing the COVID-19 Testing Requirements for candidates. This includes supplying and wearing your own face mask for the exam.  If you do not bring a face mask to testing, you will not be permitted to test. Please see the full COVID-19 testing requirements in the Resources section, under the COVID-19 heading.

Steps to Register for the NNAAP® Nurse Aide Exam

Complete nurse aide training program

Student must complete the state-approved nurse aide training program.

If you did not complete a state-approved training, you may still register under a different eligibility route as listed in the Candidate Handbook.

Review Candidate Handbook

Your Candidate Handbook is your handy guide to answer all the questions you have about submitting an application, scheduling, taking an exam, getting score results, and much more.

Create Your CNA365 Account

Create an account with our online CNA365 system to register for testing by clicking the "Sign Up" link on the login page. You will need to submit an application for testing in order to register for exams.

We highly recommend that you read the Registration Quick Reference Guide with detailed instructions on how to register online for your exam BEFORE you begin the registration process.


Credentia

Attention Pearson VUE System Users!

If you previously had an online Pearson VUE account to register for examinations and/or manage your nurse aide registration, you'll need to create a new CNA365 online account with Credentia. Click here to login and then click the "Sign Up" link on the login page.

When you create a new CNA365 account, all of the data from your old Pearson VUE online account will carry over to your new Credentia CNA365 account.

Online Exams

Take your written or oral exam conveniently from home or work through Credentia online proctoring!

A live proctor will monitor you through the webcam on your workstation to provide a secure exam experience.

To conduct a search, you will need the name, city, and date of birth OR registration number of the nurse aide.

Need to Renew Your Nurse Aide Registration?

To be eligible for continued enrollment on the District of Columbia Nurse Aide Registry, you are required to work as a nurse aide at least one documented day (eight consecutive hours) for pay during the previous twenty-four (24) months, under the supervision of an RN or LPN.

Enrolling on the DC Nurse Aide Registry Through Reciprocity

If you are a nurse aide currently listed on another state’s nurse aide (or equivalent) registry as active and in good standing and wish to enroll on the District of Columbia Nurse Aide Registry, click here to create a CNA365 account to submit a reciprocity application.

District of Columbia Examination and Scheduling Services

Create or Log into your CNA365 account to:

  • Change your current address and phone number.

  • Submit Correction Form to update your name, date of birth, or social security number before your scheduled exam.

  • Obtain and submit an Examination Testing Application.

  • Check the Testing Application status.

  • Find test sites and availability.

  • Schedule, reschedule, or cancel an examination.

  • View exam details such as examination type, scheduled time, date, and location.

  • View the Score report.

  • Submit and review a Grievance application for completed examination.

  • Submit an excused absence application.

Contact Credentia when:

  • Problem occurs when creating a CNA365 Account.

  • Did not receive the activation link.

  • Problem occurs when applying an assigned voucher code.

  • Testing Application Issue.

  • Received an error message when scheduling an examination.

  • Score report is not viewable in CNA365 after 24 hours from your exam.

District of Columbia Nurse Aide Registry

Create or Log into your CNA365 account to:

  • Change your current address and phone number.

  • Submit Correction Form to update your name, date of birth, or social security number once you are on the Registry.

  • Obtain and submit an application for reciprocity.

  • Check Reciprocity Application status.

  • Obtain and submit Renewal Registry Application for continued enrollment.

  • Check Renewal Registry Application status.

  • Request and submit a Duplicate Registration Request.

  • View Registration.

  • Obtain a Test Application because your Nurse Aide Registration has lapsed.

  • Submit an Excused Absence Request.

Contact Customer Service when:

  • Problem occurs when creating a CNA365 Account.

  • Did not receive an activation link.

  • Cannot view registry details.

  • Order Candidate Handbooks.
